No, you can trade, you can migrate. You need to unlock the Elite 4 first defeat migrate to Pal Park to have a GBA game into the GBA slot, you can migrate 6 Pokemon to date, you may not have the time or 24 hours back

The answer is yes, here's how it works. Once you hit the four Elate to Route 221 south of Pueblo arena.
